The holidays are over now, kids are due back in school/nursery & our wet week in Cornwall seems a very distant memory. I’ve gently eased myself back into play after a couple of weeks off & certainly on the UK circuit, there seems to have been something on every week.
I was really looking forward to playing the main event & after four very disappointing attempts over previous years I felt I was finally ready to put in a good show. I opted for Day 1a & my table was as good as I could expect with a real mix of ages and ability. There was one American guy I’d played with on the European circuit & I had position on him; so far so good. We started with 30k stacks & were set play just four two hour levels.
The more often you do this trip the easier it gets & the ten hour flight in cattle class wasn’t too bad at all. The twenty dollar trick I slipped to the receptionist at the Venetian check-in worked a treat as well & I was upgraded to a room with a view in the new Palazzo tower; not bad for a poker rate of $99 a night.
