Network Games Offering Optimisation - December 2013

The iPoker network has recently made some changes to the games they offer. These changes revolve around offering a better poker experience by maintaining a solid games offering while removing the less popular game formats. The two major changes are as follows:

1. Currency consolidation

Our games offering is vastly based on USD as the main playing currency. However, EUR and GBP tables are as equal or higher in popularity to that of the USD tables given the fact that most of our players are European and use these currencies on a daily basis. Therefore, we will undergo a USD phase out process in all games offering - by the end of this process we will offer only EUR and GBP tables. Our tournaments offering will change to EUR as well.

Note: The USD cash tables removal will include all stakes and game types, including Speed Poker.

2. Clear, simple, and accessible games offering

The majority of our players are looking for fun, fast, and easy to find games. We want to give them just that. We want to make sure it is even easier for you to find your game and start playing right away. We will therefore condense our offering in a way that will allow us to keep all games variants, and help you enjoy the benefits of a more accessible lobby.

Cash Table Offering Optimisation

In order to provide cash game players with a better poker experience, we have decided to optimise our current offers in order to have something that is simple, coherent and effective.

We used to offer 7 different table types (shallow, normal, 50BB, etc.), in 3 different currencies, and in both Turbo (15 sec) and Normal (30 sec) action times. With the introduction of cash tables' time bank which negates the need for long action times, we now offer only 18 seconds time to act tables, and with only 4 different table types: shallow (20 - 50 BB buy-in), Normal (40 - 100 BB buy-in), Ante (100 BB buy-in), and Anonymous (30-100 BB buy-in). This brings our offering in line with the other poker rooms in the industry, and allows us to reach the quality of offering we want to.

Removal of unpopular stakes and formats

We have also taken a look at our games and we have noticed that some particular stakes are not that popular among our players, which causes those games and their adjacent stakes to fill up very slowly. The stakes affected by these changes are between 3/6 and 200/400, so lower stakes will not be affected.

Note: stakes marked with "x" will be removed.

Sit & Go Offering Optimisation

Our Sit & Go tournaments will undergo a similar currency consolidation period, meaning that we will remove all USD buy-ins and replace them with corresponding EUR amounts. One other important change is the conversion of all 10-max Sit & Go's to 9-max (excluding Maui Jackpot Sit & Go).

Please be advised that our Steps Sit & Go tournaments now have a new format and new payout structure. For more information, please go to our Steps Sit & Go Tournaments page.

Note: Jackpot Sit & Go prize amounts will be changed to EUR as soon as the current jackpots are won.

Check below for the new SNG buy-in structures.

6-max and Double Up Sit & Go tournaments: New buy-in structure (click to expand)

9-max Sit & Go tournaments: New buy-in structure (click to expand)

Multi-Table Tournament Offering Optimisation

Our tournament schedule will be changed to reflect the USD currency removal. This means that all USD tournaments will have their buy-ins changed to the equivalent amount in EUR. The new standard buy-in structure can be found below:

Offering Optimisation Plan - Q&A

If a player has an account in USD and now he is forced to play in EUR tables. Are there any disadvantages in that? For example: when a player tops up 1 Euro Cent, will it then be converted to 2 Dollar Cents, which is more than the exact conversion or does the balance converted more accurately?

William Hill Poker uses a "rounding mechanism feature" which is always beneficial to the player and players never lose that 1 cent when they sit at a table or top up. In fact, we are only showing two digits after the decimal for graphical considerations.

A player has a pending bonus in USD. Is the pending bonus going to be converted to EUR or GBP as part of the process, or will it be left in USD until is is cleared / expired?

All pending bonuses will remain as they are until they are cleared. It doesn't matter which currency the pending bonus is in - players can redeem it on any currency table and the bonus amount will be issued to player's account, in its currency.

Exchange rate from USD to EUR - how is this exchange rate decided, when is it decided, and how often it is updated?

The exchange rate is set on a network level, and it is taken from Oanda.com, using their exchange rate feed. The exchange rate is determined when a player sits at a cash table or buy-in into a tournament. The exchange rate is updated once a day.

Will the cash games rake structure stay the same?

Yes, the rake structure for EUR and GBP tables is in place to support our already ongoing EUR and GBP tables. Rake CAPS will be kept the same as they are today.

Will players continue to accumulate points in EUR and GBP tables at the same accumulation rate of the USD tables?

The points accumulation rate has been increased to benefit the players - please see below:

Cash GamesTournaments
34 WH Points for every €1 of rake contributed 34 WH Points for every €1 of tournament fees paid
41 WH Points for every £1 of rake contributed 41 WH Points for every £1 of tournament fees paid

For more information please visit our WH Points page.

There have been some mentions of Sit & Go's being removed from the offering. Which SNG's have been removed?

We have removed mainly multi table SNG's of over 10 players, and some other formats that were less popular and almost never played.

The time to act has been changed, is it 18 seconds or 20 seconds?

Time to act is changed to 20 seconds for Hold'em and Speed games, and 25 seconds for Omaha and Stud games.

A player won first place for three times in a row for one of the Jackpot SNG's, and now the first prize was won and the Jackpot is now in EUR. Can players continue their sequence after the currency is changed?

Yes, players may continue to try their luck at the Jackpot first prize just as they could before.
